Summer starts this weekend and so should a new makeup regimen. Mineral makeup is definitely in this summer because of all the skin benefits and natural properties formulated within the products. GloMinerals offers a wide variety of mineral makeup such as eyeliner, blush, bronzers, eyeshadow, and an invigorating mister to keep your skin hydrated all day.

To begin your mineral makeup regimen, start with the gloPressed Base. This base protects your face from sun damage while it gives you a beautiful, matte finish. The rest of your makeup will look even and natural over this base without that caked-on look. It’s great for day time and evening wear. For your cheeks, you don’t have to stick to either a blush or a bronzer. Mixing a small amount of both will give your cheeks a rosy glow. Sweep the gloDust or gloBronze over the bottom of your cheek bones and add some blush over the round part of your cheeks. Add a little more of the bronzer in the evening to bring out your cheek bones even more.

In the day time, some light mascara will do the trick for your eyes. Whether you need to lengthen or volumize, gloMinerals has both kinds of mascara. For a more subtle pop, use the lengthening mascara on only the outside of your eye. This will lengthen your eyes, too, and won’t be over dramatic for the day time. In the evening, use the gloCream Eyeliner with a fine tip, slanted applicator brush. Start making a thin line on the inside of your eyes, widening as you get closer to the outside. It might be tricky at first, but you will master it over time. Follow with the volumizing mascara. It will make your eyes sultry and sexy, ready for a romantic dinner or night on the town.

For your lips, there are many options to choose from depending on what kind of formula you like best. GloMinerals makes long lasting lipstick, glosses, and plumpers in any shade you prefer, as well as lip treatments and balms to keep your lips smooth and hydrated underneath a gloss or lipstick.

GloMinerals Makeup has your face and lips covered this summer. Most of their products contain natural UV protection to shield your skin from harmful rays and sun damage. Sun protection while looking great- what more could you ask for from makeup?

Summer is right around the corner and the same skin care products you’ve been using all year might not be the best choices for June. This summer, the best makeup picks are lighter and softer colors. A natural glow will be perfect for those warm summer days no matter where you go. Keep your skin hydrated and clean throughout the day to prevent oil build up and break outs. And always remember, less is more!

Summer or not, you should always make sure to apply sunscreen before you leave your home. A moisturizing sunscreen, or a moisturizer with a good SPF, is your best option for the harsh summer sun. Apply it after you shower or cleanse your face in the morning. Hydrating your skin will keep it looking youthful and firm, and can later help in the prevention of aging symptoms.

If you can’t take your sunscreen or moisturizer with you when you leave, or you don’t want to apply it over makeup, many skin care companies have your solution. They have created great spritzers and misters that you can take with you anywhere you go. Not only will they keep your skin moist and soft during the day, they’re safe to use over makeup. They won’t wear your skin or makeup down and they’re a great alternative to washing your face in the middle of the day. Just apply whenever your skin needs a quick mist of hydration.

When it comes to cosmetics, it might be time to toss out some of the makeup you’ve been using during winter and spring. Read about makeup expiration so you’ll know which products you can keep or which ones you should throw away. Soft colored eye liners and eye shadows will give your eyes a natural pop. Be careful with choosing some of these colors because you don’t want to choose something with too big of a contrast. A subtle, light shade will accent your eyes naturally and enhance their size and beauty.

Don’t neglect your lips when you’re applying sunscreen or moisturizers to your face. Your lips are still skin, too, and need hydration just as much as the rest of your body does. Wear a protective spf lip balm or lip moisturizer before you apply lipstick or gloss. This will keep your lips soft and fresh underneath the color. Pinks and nudes are great color choices for the summer because they’ll bring out your lips natural tones. Darker shades will work great for the evening, but nudes will still keep your lips fabulous, too.

Be careful not to fall asleep with your makeup on. Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser and toner before bed. This will keep your pores unclogged and oil free. If your skin gets dry during the night, a night creme will work great but make sure to choose the right one for your type of skin. SkinDirect.com carries all of the types of products mentioned above, so browse through the site to choose the best kinds for you and your skin.

It’s hard to throw away your favorite shade of lipstick, especially if its been discontinued, but when it’s time, you gotta’ do it. Many cosmetic products can simply go bad after a while because of certain ingredients they use, while others tend to build up bacteria and can be hazardous to your health over time.

Foundations, Powders, and Concealers- Depending on the ingredients and how you use them, these types of makeup can last you from 6 months-2 years. If it does not contain water (anhydrous) then it can last longer. Water-based products can dry up and separate so toss them after 1 year. If you use a sponge to apply them and not your fingers, they will last longer. If you use your fingers, toss it after 6 months.

Eyeliner – Pencils can last a couple years if sharpened regularly, ideally before each use. Liquid eyeliner should be thrown out after 3 months because of the bacteria that can build up inside.

Eyeshadow- You can replace your powder shadows every 2 years. Cream shadows should be replaced every 6-12 months as long as you use a brush to apply them and not your fingers. Using your fingers can spread bacteria and shorten the products life span.

Lipstick – 6-12 months. The same rule about your fingers applies to lipstick. Because it has direct contact with your lips, bacteria can build up on the stick. If it starts to smell or taste different, throw it away!

Lip Gloss – A good gloss can last a while, up to a year, but it won’t be as smooth and shiny as the day you bought it. When it starts to thicken and smell different, it is time to be thrown away.

Mascara – 3 months! Possibly the shortest life span of cosmetics because of the bacteria that grows inside the tube. Mascara also dries out very quickly. If it starts to dry out earlier than 3 months, you should definitely throw it out.

Blush – Powder- 1-2 years. Cream- 9-12 months. Once again, make sure to use a brush and not your fingers or prepare to toss ‘em out earlier.

Cleansers and Moisturizers – Because of the ingredients used, such as fatty acids, these products can go bad rather quickly. So always check if they smell and look the same way they did when you first bought them or toss them out at the 6 month mark.

If after reading this you realized that you shouldn’t be using anything in your makeup bag, it’s probably time to replace all of your cosmetics. Browse through SkinDirect’s wide variety of makeup, and hey, maybe you’ll find yourself a new favorite shade of lipstick.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for Rosacea but there are many products that are safe enough to be used over your face where Rosacea has affected you. Many products can even help reduce the inflammation and redness that occur during outbreaks.

If you have rosacea, you should avoid using skin care products that contain alcohol, witch hazel, peppermint, menthol, eucalyptus oil, or clove oil. Your products should be fragrance-free and have a non-grainy texture. Mild soaps and cleansers are best for your skin because they do not irritate any problematic area. Using sunscreen and cosmetics with a minimum SPF of 15 will help protect these sensitive areas from sun damage and further redness.

Retinoids, which are Vitamin A derivatives, are useful in the treatment of rosacea. Several skin care products are formulated with Retinoids and can be safe to use on your skin where a breakout has occurred. An oral retinoid called isotretinoin, used for severe cases of acne, reduces the pustules and papules in severe cases of rosacea as well, especially cases that do not respond to antibiotics. Isotretinoin is known to cause birth defects so do not use any product with this ingredient if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. Talk to your dermatologist first to find out which retinoid containing product is right for you or if you should use other treatments for your Rosacea.

Makeup has been around for centuries, improving the appearance of our skin and enhancing our natural features. The Ancient Egyptians and Greeks used kohl to darken and line their eyes and crude paint and powder for their face. What they didn’t know was that many of these substances contained dangerous lead compounds and mercury.

Over time, Cosmetologists have changed the formulas used in cosmetics in order to have safe yet effective products. Today, makeup containing natural minerals from the earth is preferred over synthetic compounds. These natural minerals are safer to use on your skin and won’t clog your pores or irritate sensitive skin. Mineral Makeup is safer to use on acne and other skin problems because it skips the use of fragrances and synthetic dyes.

Ingredients such as titanium oxide and zinc oxide have anti-inflammatory properties which allow people suffering from acne or rosacea to use them over their problematic skin. Many kinds of mineral makeup incorporates titanium and zinc oxide for those reasons. These two ingredients also have natural sun protection (SPF) within them making several mineral makeup products a great boost for your regular sunscreen base.

Not all mineral makeup uses all natural ingredients so make sure to read the ingredients of your favorite product before applying it to your skin.
